Laois Bible Fellowship Church, known as ‘Laois Bible Church’ or ‘LBC’ had its beginnings in 1999 when
Mike Tardive answered God’s call to plant a church in Portlaoise, Co Laois.
Today it is no longer in Portlaoise but in Abbeyleix, a small town just 15km from Portlaoise, its original location.
Richard Thompson is Acting Pastor at present, Kenny Waring, who had been Pastor up to July 2021, left to answer a call to go to Vancouver in Canada. Richard has been acting Pastor since. As it was from its beginnings, Laois Bible Church is a non-specific denomination, a Bible-believing family of community-based Christian believers. We are officially registered as a church, complying with all necessary Government regulations and requirements. We have a Constitution and Articles of Faith / Doctrinal Statement etc which anyone can view upon request.
In Brief
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it is as relevant today as it was at the time of its writing. We believe that in accordance with God’s Word, Mankind is inherently sinful and has a broken relationship with God, resulting in separation from God for all eternity. We believe that regardless of whatever denomination, or church, a person identifies with, the most important aspect of their belief is that each individual has a restored personal relationship with God, having trusted in Jesus Christ, whose sacrificial death on the cross, paid the penalty for our sin and His subsequent resurrection on the third day. In practice, it is our desire to worship God both individually and corporately as a family of believers. We endeavor to do this in our everyday lives by caring for one another, meeting regularly for fellowship, worship, and learning from God’s Word.
Our church building, Epworth Hall, Main Street, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois is open from 10:30 am on Sundays for our Worship service (service begins at 11 am) and on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 pm for our Bible Study times together. We welcome visitors to join us at these times. In addition, we welcome prayer requests, which can be shared when we meet together or be submitted by phone, text, or email.
